Where the Apple support site offers no help, there's always google. I just fixed my dead iPod Photo by narrowly following the instructions on this website ... one well placed bang on the iPod ass was enough made it start working again. I wonder why this proofed-to-work method of repair isn't mentioned on the Apple support website.
